About Us
I am a mother of two amazing little boys and a wife to an incredible man who has made it possible for me to pursue my dreams. I was once a ballerina, and it was ballet that started my adventure into the arts so many years ago. Who would have guessed that dance would lead me to a camera?
I grew up dancing in Northern Alberta, focusing primarily on ballet and Ukrainian dance until high school when I added EVERYTHING else. I continued my dance training after high school when I moved to Vancouver for the summer, and shortly after that I moved to Paris, France to train with the International School of Ballet for just over a year. I returned home to run a small non for profit dance studio for the next four years but found time to travel during the summer months and this enabled me to study dance all over the world in places like Toronto, LA, New York, Tokyo, London, Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Cuzco, Rio de Janerio, and Hong Kong.
I moved to the Okanagan about nine years ago, which is about the same time I got married and did a diploma program in digital photography at CATO in Kelowna. Alexis and I met dancing for a production
company and realized we had so many talents and goals in common that we should team up. And so Famous Photos was born in 2013; the brain child of two dancers turned photographers.
Vernon is home to me now and I continue to teach ballet at our local dance school, Accentz Dance Studio, as well as run my own photography business, Carousel Studios, and feed my passion for dance photography with Famous Photos. I love the way that I can connect with people through both dance and photography. To see the product of my two passions is the most amazing feeling. To see the joy a beautiful photograph can give a dancer to prove their hard work and dedication has paid of is the most incredible moment. This is why we do what we do.
Alexis
I am Alexis Feist, a mother, a wife and a woman with an enormous passion for life. Dancer first, photographer second. Without dance I wouldn’t be doing photography and I wouldn’t have the creative eye that I do today. It started as a childhood hobby and dance is the avenue where my photos first started getting noticed. When the window of opportunity presented itself, I didn’t hesitate to jump in!
Dancer first. In contrast to my partner Amie, I am a contemporary dancer. I grew up in Kamloops, BC where my passion for dance became my way of life and helped forge the woman I am today. I explored all genres of dance and am known for my knowledge of a diverse range. I began teaching at a very young age in my dance studio and high school. My passion carried beyond my hometown to Calgary, AB where I achieved my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Contemporary Dance, With Distinction, from the University of Calgary. My experiences in University not only broadened my view of the art form but it allowed me numerous opportunities to work with many renowned Canadian and European choreographers.
The Okanagan is now my home and I couldn’t feel more 
fortunate. Photography and the support of my amazing husband has enabled me the time to raise my little ones and explore this beautiful part of the world. Along with mine and Amie’s wonderful partnership with Famous Photos, I also operate Alexis Feist Photography where I capture all of the special moments that life brings us. Famous Photos has allowed me to keep one toe in the dance world and be a part of the amazing talent that this valley has to offer. The continued support of our dance community has enabled our small home business to thrive and Amie and I along with our families are forever grateful.
